Jenny S. Lai, MA, BCBA
I created this space because I know what it feels like to be both the professional in the room and the parent in the waiting room. Navigating the systems and appointments while trying to advocate for your child. And often, it feels like no one really sees the whole picture: your child, your culture, your family values.
That’s where Jenny Sun Behavior Consultant comes in.

How My Practice Began
For a few years, I worked in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis, following protocols and programs that didn’t always sit right with me. As a parent to neurodiverse children myself, I started questioning:
Is this really what support should look like?
Where is the empathy, the connection, the respect for autonomy?
At the same time, I saw how so many Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) families — families like mine — were struggling under the weight of stigma, silence, and pressure to “fix” their children. I realized what was missing: an approach that honors neurodiversity, celebrates identity, and provides support that aligns with our cultural roots and lived realities.
So I decided to do things differently.
What I BelieveÂ
My practice is built on:
-
Collaboration
-
Autonomy
-
Connection
-
Cultural humility
Whether I’m supporting a family with parent coaching, offering a Behavior Reboot Plan, or collaborating with other providers, I lead with compassion, transparency, and respect. I integrate values-based strategies, co-regulation, and personalized care because every family deserves support that feels right for them.
A Little More About MeÂ
I’m based in Riverside County, CA, where I offer in-home and virtual support. Outside of work, I’m a co-host of the Not a Tiger Mom podcast, where we talk openly about parenting, mental health, and breaking generational cycles in Asian American communities.
I believe that you can honor your child’s neurodivergence and your own healing journey at the same time.
